Failure Diagnosis
Why did it fail?
Pick the symptom. We'll trace it to the likely cause, give you the fix, and point you to the material or prep step that prevents it next time.
Select a symptom
Layer Delamination
Layers separate or peel apart; the part splits along horizontal planes.
Likely causes
- Nozzle temperature too low for the material
- Print speed too high — layers don't fuse
- Cooling fan too aggressive (ABS/ASA/PA need low fan)
- Drafts or temperature swings in the room
How to fix it
- Raise nozzle temperature by 5–10°C
- Reduce print speed by 20–30%
- Lower part-cooling fan to 0–30% for ABS/ASA/PA
- Print inside an enclosure to hold chamber temperature
Prevent it next time
- Calibrate a temperature tower per spool
- Keep filament dry — moisture causes weak layers
